Ready for Spring?
Holloway parlayed a stellar spring into a starting linbacker role (CREDIT: Columbia Athletics)
We're about three weeks away from the start of Spring Football Practice and that's a good reason to get us all thinking about who might emerge as a promising star for the fall.
Last year, John Seiler and Marc Holloway were named the most improved offensive and defensive players of the spring, respectively.
I'd like to throw the question out to the readers:
Who do you think will be the respective "M.I.P's" this spring?
Remember this is all conjecture, and for entertainment purposes only.
(In other words, don't tell us your guesses are based on some kind of "word on the street"... save those sources for stock tips).
The best case scenario would be that we get a list of 10-15 frontrunners in our minds, and they all excel in practice and we end up with a big tie for the honors.

Because there are so many possibilities when it comes to the returning 2 deep players and last years incoming class, it is truly a crap shoot.
I would like to see one of the potential staring OL line players to shine or a running back to stand out.
On defense, one of the corners or defense backs standing out would be great. One of the big guys dominating (Frasher, Groth) would be nice, although, the back field is what would really excite me the most.
Sean Brackett; I think he can be a special player. Or Adams at LT. Another special player.
Under the radar Nick Gerst ran wild at the JV level. This kid could explode this year
Based on the last two games, Augie Williams. Guy was all over, and his pass cover skills from the linebacker spot are a big plus.
In my book, Brackett is already an outstanding quarterback, but we certainly need two more very good quarterbacks to challenge successfully for the Ivy League Championship. I liked what I saw of Jerry Bell last season and see him developing into a terrific player this season, perhaps beginning with the spring intrasquad game. Similarly, I would expect one of the returning wide receivers Also, as we lost so many wide receivers to graduation, I would expect one of the returning WR's to capture the MIP award.
Two potentially outstanding players whose playing time thus far was shortened by injury - on offense,WR Nico Gutierrez, and on defense, LB Matt Moretto. Good luck fellas, make us proud...
What about Mistretta? He played for a great high school program.
YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO KEEP A LOOK OUT FOR BOTH MISTRETTA(DON BOSCO) AND GERST(BERGEN CATHOLIC),BOTH CAME FROM SOME OF THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN THE COUNTRY
