More on Carter...
It seems like Marquel Carter was being heavily recruited by schools like Cal, Stanford and even Michigan State. They mostly saw him as a DB, while UNH liked him as a QB.
But after all that attention from the FBS schools, Carter got his transcripts into the Ivies, specifically Columbia, Dartmouth, Yale, Harvard and Princeton.
That's when things apparently changed.

Please watch out for hyperbolies.
You say that the gentleman was "heavily" recruited by I-A teams. But the link provided in the article merely says that he was invited to come aboard as a preferred walk-on (and academic scholarship).

I am concerned about excessive hype, so long as people like Bagnoli are around and all too willing to poach other schools' recruits.
Check out the film, this kid is the real deal.

Jake: the voy board has posts suggesting that the Presidents have cut the number of football recruits to 25 and eliminated spring recruiting. Can you look into these reports? Thanks.
Can we cut the number of presidents instead, add an 11th game, and send the Ivy champ to the playoffs?
Is he being recruited to play offense or defense?
I have now seen the tape on Carter. He looks like the real deal. He looks like a D 1 recruit. Is he a Tim Tebow type of QB, or is he a safety?
Several current players had "preferred walk-on" opportunities at schools including Michigan. Good recruiting by the coaching staff, a degree from an Ivy League school and the higher probability of actually playing is what makes these students come our way.
After viewing the tapes on Carter, I'm convinced he should play quarterback. We already have plenty of defensive backs and wide receivers (especially with the incoming class). He's too good at qb not to be given a shot there, and maybe that's one reason he chose Columbia.
I think that Carter has MA type skills. However, I was extremely impressed by Sean Brackett's play at the Brown game. Caarter looks to be a perfect back for the wildcat formation. You will recall that MA never saw the field during his sophomore year. I don't want that to happen to Carter.
LOOKS LIKE THE LOWER AI IS DOING ITS THING FOR COLUMBIA AND DARTMOUTH. THE ARTICLE SAYS HE GOT THE OK FROM THOSE TWO SCHOOLS AND STILL HAS TO WAIT TO HEAR FROM HYP AT THE TIME OF THE ARTICLE. EVEN IF LATER ADMITTED BY THOSE SCHOOLS, ITS A BIG ADVANTAGE TO BE ABLE TO LET HIM IN SOONER.
I think the more likely scenario is that HYP already filled their alloted slots and Columbia and maybe Dartmouth wisely kept a few in reserve.
