Three New Names
Sam Williams
First off, the long-rumored commitment by speedy Chattanooga-area RB Sam Williams has finally been confirmed. But the news also comes with info on how he had an "injury-plagued" senior year in 2009. Here's hoping he had a full recovery.
Mike DiTommaso (#3 in white) breaks up a pass
DB/RB Mike DiTommaso from New Jersey's Seton Hall Prep is coming to Columbia. DiTommaso made the Newark Star Ledger's All Non-Public School Defensive First Team.
Duncan Dickerson
And we also have Duncan Dickerson, a long snapper/OL from Cypress Falls High School in Houston, TX. (Not to be confused with Cypress WOODS high school, where we found rising soph DL Anthony Villamanga)

For Ditomasso, 65 tackles and 3 ints as safety for a 9-2 Seton Hall Prep team.

Cy Falls is where the Brekke brothers went to high school, too.
"Injury plagued senior year" sometimes means that a player provides hidden value down the line. Leon Ivery was being recruited by Stanford, as I recall, until he was injured his senior year. He really didn't come around until last season, but it appears to be worth the wait. speaking aobut running backs, the speedy tailback frosh Nick Gerst seemed to do well in JV ball. What can we expect from this former NJ all-stater?
Jake, The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported today that Luke Eddy of Worcester Academy has committed to Columbia. Ray Guy Kicking School rates Eddy as the second best kicker in the Northeastern region of the USA. Go Lions!

Now that's what we need, a tackle with a name like Joe Ghergurovich (the kind Penn usually gets :)
a plea: if you see a story in a newspaper of interest here, please include the link directly to it in your comment.
In case you're not sure how to copy, paste the link, highlight it in the horizontal box at the top of the page on which it appears, press Control and C at the same time, go the this area and press Control-V simultaneously. (That's for PCs; it may be different for Mac machines.)
Jake, here's my last Columbia commitment of the day--Maurice Rothschild, 5/11" 175, "athlete" from Warren Easton Fundamental Senior High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rivals.com gave Rothschild a very good two-star rating. A terrific all-around athlete, Rothschild played quarterback and wide receiver in high school. He runs the forty in 4.5. The commitment was reported today in an artilce that appeared in The Times Picayune entitled "New Orleans Area High School Football Signees."
This brings our list of known Columbia recruits up to 16 or 17. All of the Columbia recruits look like great to me. Congratulations to Coach Wilson and his staff for bringing these fine young men to Columbia.
