Mingo from Ohio

Jeremy Mingo

6"0, 175-pound Jeremey Mingo, who doubles as a wide receiver and a cornerback, has chosen to come to Columbia this fall.

Mingo goes to Firestone High School in the Akron area, (so yeah, it's named after THE Firestone), and was an All-District All Star this past season.

Based on his size, I get the feeling he'll play at corner in college.

Mingo brings our number of known commits to 10, and that means I can start the unofficial "Roar Lions Roar" list:

1. Joey Andrada WR 6-3 190 lbs. Piedmont HS (Piedmont, CA)

2. Hunter Coleman TE/OL 6-4 230 lbs. Loyola (Prep Shreveport, LA)

3. Lou DiNovo WR 6-0 185 lbs. LaSalle Institute (Albany, NY)

4. Brian East LB 6-3 205 lbs. Carmel HS (Carmel, IN)

5. Tyler Feely K/P 6-0 155 lbs. Jesuit HS (Tampa, FL)

6. Brad Losee DE/TE 6-4 235 lbs. Eastview HS (Apple Valley, MN)

7. Mark McClain WR/S 6-2 195 lbs. Upper Arlington (Upper Arlington, OH)

8. Nick Melka DE 6-2 230 lbs. Benet Academy (Lisle, IL)

9. Jeremy Mingo WR/CB 6-0, 180 lbs. Firestone HS (Akron, OH)

10. Chris Rapka QB 6-3 200 lbs. Cardinal Gibbons HS (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

You absolutely have to LOVE the early returns in terms of geographical diversity. It is amazing and wonderful how our program has developed these new recruiting lines! Hats off to NW and staff for what already sounds and looks like a great incoming class.

We need a power back who can move the pile. We should also stockplie some road grader type OLs. And you can never have enough DLs.

God bless Catholic high schools in terms of recruiting, yes? (And however one feels about religion in general.)

But we could still use someone from the leading h.s. football program in the nation, Don Bosco (if only as a way of breaking the ice there), as well as a recruit from Penn's fave feeder schools. St. Joseph's of Montvale and Bergen Catholic.

We have had recent success with the big three Catholic high schools in Bergen County and have at least half a dozen solid palyers and rising sophomores from those programs. Bags used to screw us by trashing us at Bergen Catholic; I nthink we are over that issue.

The Mingo link on the basic page was inoperative a few minutes ago (2AM ET 2/4). Maybe this will:
