Quick Saturday Score Recap
David Moore's TD catch was the highlight of the night for Fordham
Fordham fell to Albany at home 23-20, in what was a turnover-riddled game for the Rams. I'll have more on this later in the, but after giving up more than 300 yards rushing in each of their first two games, it does look like the Ram defense has a major weakness on the ground, something that could bode well for a Columbia team that needs to establish a running game.
Turnovers were another problem for Fordham as they gave it up three times compared to no turnover for Albany.
Ram QB John Skelton had a mixed night, failing to get a 50% completion rate, and throwing a crucial interception that ended what seemed like a sure scoring chance early in the second half. But he still threw for one touchdown and showed some nice flair during a number of points in the game. I think he's got a shot to be a serious threat at his position by next season.
On defense, junior defensive back Matt Loucks had an incredible 26 tackles for Fordham, 14 of them solo. But as you might surmise, 26 tackles for a guy in the secondary is not exactly a good thing as it almost always means your defensive front was beaten time and again. The Rams are lucky they only gave up 23 points in the game.
Lafayette looked solid in the Leopards' 28-7 win over Georgetown.
And Marist fell to the Toreros in San Diego by a 38-17. At many times in the game, San Diego was scoring at will, especially through the air.
