Why is this League Different from all other Leagues?
*(With the official notifications of admission going out Thursday, I am hoping to hear more solid info on incoming freshmen football players in the next few days. I will be watching the papers and the Web).
I missed this a couple of days ago, but Robert Kraft '63, has another key football sponsorship in addition to his New England Patriots and our Columbia Lions. It turns out he's a major backer of the Israeli Football League (IFL).
Let's hope if any young Israelis with serious football talent come out of that league, Kraft will make sure our recruiters get a look at them. Similar things have happened before. In the late 1980's, a lot of very talented Israeli soccer players came to Columbia and made an impact on the varsity. And who can forget all those excellent Israeli college basketball players like UConn's Nadav Henefeld?
Hey if Columbia can find an All-Ivy defensive legend in Finland, then why can't it get a few players from Israel too?
