Week Three Picks

Last Week 3-2

Overall: 10-2

The losses for both Yale and Harvard last week threw me for a loop, but I recovered with the slightly controversial choices of Lafayette and Princeton and the easier UNH nod.

Here goes for this week:

Dartmouth over Penn

Penn really hasn't looked ready to start the season for several years now. I think this will be a very close game, but something has happened to Al Bagnoli and his ability to win important games. The Ivy opener is a very important game. Expect an upset here.

Harvard over Lafayette

Harvard lost to Brown last week because the Crimson got really sloppy with the football and made some terrible turnovers deep in their own end. They also allowed Buddy Farnham to beat them on some deep balls. I don't see Harvard making those turnovers again tomorrow and I also don't see the Leopards putting together a quick-strike passing attack.

Lehigh over Cornell

The Big Red will crash back down to Earth a bit this week, despite the fact that Lehigh seems weaker than I can ever remember this season. In their win over Yale last week, Cornell proved it has a decent defense, but also confirmed that the offense is still not there.

Brown over URI

This is a tough pick as Rhode Island seems to be coming around. But the Brown defense is on a roll and the offense still has a few things to prove.

Holy Cross over Yale

Something ain't right with Mike McLeod, and Yale isn't fooling anybody with the passing game like they did against Georgetown in week one.

Jake - not sure what you have against Cornell, but it seems obvious to me that the only time you have ever seen them is when they play Columbia, which isn't a fair assessment of any team. Regardless, plese pick against them this week against Harvard. :) By the way, love the blog and following the Lions' improvement ... it's good for the league that Norries is helping make them a team you don't overlook on the schedule. Columbia fans should be excited!
