Mitchell Honored

Big, strong, and smart (CREDIT: Columbia Athletics)

Senior defensive end Phil Mitchell has been named a finalist for the National Football Foundation's Draddy Award, which is basically awarded to collegiate athletes who are great football players and great students at the same time.

Mitchell is truly a strong contender, as he is achieving his strong GPA even while taking tough pre-med courses.

This is a great honor for Phil and Columbia and we wish him the best of luck as we await the announcement of finalists and the single winner later this year.

Now let's see the break-out game that we have been expecting from Phil from the time that NW tabbed him as a future impact player.

Congratulations Phil. My wife Pat and I had dinner last evening with your grandmotherl, Freida. She is also very excited about your recognition. I hope to meet you some time if you ever get to Rome, Georgia. Again, congratulations.
