Recruiters: Just Look for the Big 'X!"

X marks the spot... at #1

Co-Captain, (actually tri-captain, but you know what I mean), Drew Quinn and rising sophomore Lou Miller's high school has been ranked #1 in the nation by the PrepNation.com and Rise Magazine preseason polls. During my interview with Drew's dad last week, Mr. Quinn made a great case for just how good Cincinnati-area hugh school football is, and now we have more proof.

By my count Columbia has five players from the greater Cincinnati-Dayton area on the team. They include two of the three captains, Quinn and JoJo Smith, Miller and incoming freshmen Alex Gross and Derek Lipscomb.

Cornell has joined Princeton, Penn, and Harvard by putting its media guide online. The Big Red also has a new sports Website, but the ticket prices and info for football still say "2006" on them. I'm guessing that's a mistake and the ticket prices, ($10 for adults per game), will be the same. You can check it all out here or just call (607) 254-BEAR for more info. The Columbia-Cornell game is in Ithaca this year on November 10th.

Tad Crawford '07 and the B.C. Lions lost for the first time this season Thursday night at home versus Saskatchewan. It takes a while for the stats to update on the B.C. website, so I'm not sure what impact, if any, Tad had in the game.

Princeton's former star linebacker Zak Keasey is trying to make the San Francisco 49ers ... as a fullback. As my predecessor in the broadcasting booth Rick Mantz often says, most college linebackers secretly, or not so secretly, think they can be great fullbacks too. Here's Keasey's chance to prove that's true at the highest possible level of competition.
