I'm Ready for My Close Up

Should I go with the Ron Burgundy look?

We're just three days away from the Ivy Football Media Day, and now we've learned that the event will be Webcast... live!

So it looks like I'm going to have to do more than just get some good questions prepared, (keep your suggestions coming by the way), now I'm going to have to work on getting myself more camera-friendly for the event. I need a good make-up person, fast!

*UPDATE: I have just been informed that the webcast for this event will be audio only... so I will consider it as "clothing optional."

If you check the comments section of the previous post, you'll see some of the excellent questions readers have already suggested I ask. Barring major time constraints and/or wardrobe malfunctions, I will try to ask them.

Right now, my top 5 questions for Coach Wilson would be:

1) What do we know about Craig Hormann's health and is he projected to start the Fordham game as of now?

2) What's the plan to improve the running game, and is Jordan Davis' job as the starting tailback more or less secure than this time last year?

3) What's the one thing you think has to change the most from last year, and what's the one thing that needs to stay the same if Columbia wants to do better than 5-5 in 2007?

4) Which incoming freshmen seem like they have the best chance to crack the two-deep?

5) Your best offensive weapon is Austin Knowlin, how can Columbia avoid having him shut down with double and triple teams?

Of course, there are a lot more questions to ask, and my top 5 might change as I ponder a few things other than what shirt I'm going to wear over the weekend.

Here are the primary questions I will try to ask the other Head Coaches, (I hope I don't become the most annoying guy in the room at this thing).

Brown's Phil Estes: Last year your offense had a rough time after Nick Hartigan's graduation, now your defense faces the loss of Zak DeOssie. Is this simply going to be a rebuilding year for the Bears?

Cornell's Jim Knowles: Cornell has had a solid defense and a strong running attack for a few years now. Are you going to incorporate the pass more this year?

Dartmouth's Buddy Teevens: Dartmouth's schedule seems incredibly tough once again, especially in the first half. Are these tougher schedules making it harder to develop your talent and experiment with schemes that could work in Ivy League play?

Harvard's Tim Murphy: How are you going to avoid what seems like an inevitable let down after the loss of Clifton Dawson? And how do you explain the team's fading down the stretch last season when Dawson was still in the lineup?

Penn's Al Bagnoli: Penn doesn't seem to have experienced a major talent drain over the last two years, so how do you explain two straight 3-4 Ivy League records?

Princeton's Roger Hughes: Jeff Terrell's maturity, more than his athletic talent, was perhaps the biggest reason why the Tigers shared the Ivy title last year. Bill Foran seems to have more than enough physical talent, but are confident he'll be as good a decision-maker Terrell was?

Yale's Jack Siedlecki: With the graduation losses at wide receiver, what do you plan to do to counter opposing defenses who may just line up eight guys in the box to shut down Mike McLeod?

One More Online

Now the Princeton Media Guide is available online to go along with the media guides at Harvard and Penn. I love media guides and try to collect as many as I can, but they are just not as much fun to look at online. Of course I am NOT complaining, sometimes I really need those stats and history and it's great that they're never further away than the nearest computer.

Good, smart questions, Jake. You may need a bodyguard, but Coach Wilson will take care of that since he's bigger and stronger then everyone else. It's great to know that you will going to Media Day. You're good luck for the Lions!

Most important question hasn't been posed: Can we expect to see Pete Stoll, or any of the fullbacks, more involved in the running and pass receiving game?

Stoll can be expected to get 5 or 6 carries plus a few flareouts per game. Best potential FB in the Ivies. You heard it here first.

Hey Jake, are you going to be at Baker on Saturday to view the physical testing of the returning team?
