Top 100 Moments of 2010

#75: Nico Ties it Up

After Craig Hamilton's 50 yard kickoff return, the Lions marched quickly into the Princeton red zone before hitting another penalty snag.

But on 1st and 15 from the Tiger 20, QB Sean Brackett made a nifty seven yard run to set Columbia up at the 13 with about half of the second quarter left to go and the Lions trailing by 7-0.

On the 2nd down play, Brackett was able to stay in the pocket with superb protection before finding WR Nico Gutierrez underneath at about the six yard line.

From there, Nico snuck into the end zone, just barely pushing under two Princeton defenders.

Not only was that a TD a joyous moment because it began a flood of Lion scores, but it was also extremely gratifying to see Gutierrez truly come back from injury after almost three years of trying to make it back to his freshman year level.

Nico tore his ACL in the final game of the 2007 season, made a miraculous effort to get back onto the squad in 2008, got into some games in 2009, and ended up being a fantastic receiver all season long in 2010.

It's an inspiring story, and this TD against Princeton was a definite highlight.
