Duty, Honor, Country... but no more football for Joe Kopp
Scratch one person on my list of incoming freshmen and another person who I had slated as a “possible” member of the class of 2015.
Joe Kopp is indeed spurning an offer from Columbia to go to a service academy.
But it turns out it’s West Point and not the Coast Guard. And Kopp will not be playing football for the academy.
Perhaps Columbia actually dodged a bullet there.
I hate losing any kid in the recruiting process, but best of luck to Joe and thanks for committing to serve our country.
In another matter… based on my own reporting I can now definitely say that QB Ryan Carter is also NOT coming to Columbia this fall.
Carter was reportedly offered a spot in the class, but he has also decided not to play college football at all and will attend Auburn as a regular student.
Gospel in Morningside???
Rising NFL star Mike DeVito of the New York Jets has used some of his lockout-induced spare time to preach to athletes at Columbia University. DeVito is thinking about becoming a member of the Christian clergy sometime in the near future.

Can we at least get feedback from Coach why THE LIST is still not out ???
Ditto. Are there still some possible top-level recruits undecided, either on their side or by the Admissions Office? Is the AO's office printer not working and it's too much trouble to write out a list? Have Mark Rudd's children occupied the Admissions Office?
Pretty bad, as June arrives, to be the only Ivy school not to release its list of football recruits yet.
No ;)
I still think our list isn't out because they are still waiting on final high school transcripts. I am guessing we will be waiting until late June or early July.
Based on a quck scan of Jake's blog archives, it appears that the roster list was posted on or around June 3rd last year. I expect we will see the class of 2015 posted very soon.
Unlikely the delay is because we are waiting for the final transcripts. The Ivies do not wait for final transcripts to admit students. More likely, there are paperwork processing issue or financial aid issues involving a few late applicants. Last year's List was also published in early June.
Thanks, Didn't recall last year's list came out June 3rd. Looks like that's when to expect it most years.
