Malcolm in the Corner

Malcolm Thaxton

6-0 190 lbs. CB Malcolm Thaxton is coming to Columbia.

Thaxton comes to us from Fuquay-Varina HS in North Carolina, making him the first documented alum from his high school to play for the Lions.

The link above is to an interview Thaxton did where he discusses why he chose Columbia.

Highlight video is here on YouTube.

Marty in his Day

I found this YouTube gem today featuring QB Marty Domres ’69, leading the Baltimore Colts to a 1973 win over Jim Plunkett and Patriots.

Agree...we have Gerst and Garrett who are rather small and of course brackett.....but there will be short yardage downs where we need to be able to power run for 1-2 yards and for this we need a 220 pounder with strong legs.

You say Garrett is only 5'10" & 185. This may be true but he is a freaking monster. Word has it that he can out squat anyone in the weight room. He may be small, but dynamite does come in small packages. Also, Jake, can you give us a final run down on the commits? I hear we have a new "O" line commit from Florida. Do you have any informtion on this?

Ryan Thomas was 2d team all-state second largest class in FL.
Slivka looks and plays a lot like our other WR recruit from MA: not a burner (5.9 in the 40) but has great hands and concentration. Caught 31 for 722 and 7TDs.

Dan Slivka's highligh reel is THE best I have seen in many years. This is a kid playing at the highest level in a tough Pittsburgh League the WPIAL. He shows real toughness and instincts. He is clearly the best I have seen yet in this class. He will play this year.

According to Dan Slivka's film highlights, his 40 time is 4.59, not 5.49 that someone mentioned. That's very good speed for a big 6-3, 195 pound receiver. That Pittsburgh league is indeed one of the toughest in the country.

My typo on the 40; apologies.

A strong running back...Nick Gerst..In additon to the 4.38 speed a 375 lb bench I heard and now weighs 200...Sounds like Ray Rice and Maurice Jones Drew.

GIVE THE KID THE ROCK
