Officially Looking for a Hoops Coach
Joe in the huddle
It's now official.
Joe Jones is leaving Columbia to become one of Steve Donahue's assistants at Boston College.
We wish Joe well and thank him for helping to raise the spirit of Columbia basketball to much higher levels during his tenure.
So that means three Ivy teams are now looking for a new head basketball coach; Columbia, Dartmouth, and Cornell. Let the best search committee get the best person for the job.
Some of my contemporaries from the classes of 1991-1993 at Columbia have told me their top man on the wish list is Lion great Buck Jenkins '93.
But that's just a wish right now...

Buck Jenkins is to Columbia what Jerome Allen is to Penn. You are talking about the best two bsketball players to graduate from Columbia and Penn in the last forty years. Penn moved quickly to select Allen as its new coach after the Glenn Miller fiasco. If Columbia picks Jenkins as its new head coach, it certainly would generate a tremendous amount of excitement on campus. Assuming all the pieces fall into place quickly, Buck's selection would be a great morale boost for the Columbia Basketball team and its supporters. Please keep us advised, Jake.
What has Buck been doing recently?

After playing for two years in Europe and serving an assistant coach at his alma mater, Jenkins now resides in Georgia and works at Inner Strength, Inc., a youth development program that uses basketball as a tool to mentor and better shape the lives of young males.
Break up the Lions! Baseball sweeps Harvard in doubleheader,
first game score 24-1 (24 hits as well, 4 homers). And Harvard has a winning record!
Basketball is over, how about some more info on baseball. They seem to be doing really good.
How about the womens coach doing double duty?
what about Tony Chiles? He has been a top assistant at Drexel the past few years and is known as a great recruiter? I believe he was #2 choice when Joe Jones was hired but not sure about that...
Or how about Paul Lee? Another great guy, former team captain, and has been a D1 assistant for many years
jamal adams, had great success and continues his success as a teacher and top california highschool basketball coach at a very well respected basketball and football program, Loyola High school.
Paul Lee would be a great hire if he's interested?
Is Kareem Abdul Jabbar still interested?
If Jabbar were coach, you know the palyers would look up to him. Well, maybe not so much for Craig and Crimmons.
