Getting Their Feet Wet
So the rains have finally come to New York City, as we're getting some of the tangential storms connected to Tropical Storm Danny. The forcast calls for more of the same tomorrow and Sunday.
We've had so many rainy fall seasons in the Northeast the past few years that I consider rain during training camp an essential experience, especially for the players from Arizona and California who need to get used to it.
Today's and yesterday's latest updates on practice include some photos from camp. Be sure you click on the photo gallery icons at the top left of the pages.

I didn't realize that the team does their training camp at Baker Field. Where do the kids stay? On Campus?
If that's the case, these kids are missing the best part of preseason camp...the bonding that you get as a team from getting away from all the distractions.
Plus, if these kids are having to commute to "camp" for two and three a day sessions, that's brutal.
Would like others to weigh in on this...
Team has been training at Baker for many years...players have spoken of how tight they are with each other. Sorry, you're way off...
The players room together on campus and remember, this is before the other students return to Morningside... so they bond just fine thank you. And getting used to the bus ride to Baker is better done earlier than later.
The allure of places like the old Camp Columbia is hard to completely deny, but I'd rather see the players get used to their home field and the freshmen get used to the campus.
We have camp at Baker Field because of the freshmen. They cannot be taken out of the loop for freshman orientation.
What time does the Brown scrimmage start?
JV: Brown @ Columbia Friday 11/20 2:00 or 2:30.
Most of the Ivies conduct camp on or near campus these days. Doesn't seem to have affected Harvard or Brown's success of late.I agree with the poster of allowing them to get used to one of the player's biggest challenges--the daily bus ride.
Taking the bus up and back to Baker is no big deal and talked about as if it is way too much on these pages.
The bus ride is now a lot faster; the buses can use the West Side Highway (thanks to Rudy).
The bus trip is easier now thanks to a Columbia Alum, I believe his name was a Mr. Costykin, who worked in the Mayors office for a long time.He cleared it with the NYPD.....The Footbal Advisory Comm helped too.....I don't think Rudy hepled at all...(he went to Manhatten...)
