More on Matt Bocci

Matt Bocci holds off a tackler

Here is some more information on our latest confirmed incoming frosh, Matt Bocci from Sacred Heart Prep in the Palo Alto area.

It seems that Bocci is considered to be a better prospect as a safety, even though he also is a running back.

I see the same article re: Matt also notes incoming kicker Greg Gutas " to have one of the strongest legs in S.Cal area.
Lions fans know how important a god kicker/punter can be for the program!

Especially somebody who can put kick-offs into the end zone. One of our biggest problems last year was giving opponents a short field after kick-offs

If Columbia defeats Yale tonight and Brown takes Cornell, we will be in a tie for first place.

Colder weather at a northern school, kickoffs from the 30, a 1" tee, a faster and larger opponent and the increased pressures of a college D1 game can be a challenging transition for a high school kicker- in other words, it aint easy, or every team would have a top notch kicking game, and we know that doesnt always happen, even at the football powerhouses. Let's hope for the best.
