Guilty, Guilty...

I am finished with federal jury duty as my colleagues and I took about 25 minutes to convict a major cocaine dealer on Long Island. The judge tells us he will get a minimum of 10 years, but probably a lot more.

Unfortunately, it does not look like there was any more published material about incoming Columbia freshmen while I was performing my civic duty. But with 20 or 21 names already published in local papers at this very early date, I'm grateful for what we know already.

Speaking of recruiting, it looks like more college recruiters will have to do more with less. Several college sports departments are cutting back on recruiting trips, and many high school programs are cutting back on regular season football schedules to save money.

Any reports on how our guys are doing with conditioning and weight and strength training? Any reports on the rehabbing of some of our injured guys? MA?

Jake, I've been saving a name of a new Columbia commit for you while you attended to your jury duty. His name is Eric Walker and he's an outstanding offensive lineman who played for Coach Scott Peach at Arlington High School in Arlington, Texas. Scott Peach and his father are famous football coaches in Texas and Eric has done them proud. The Arlington Star Telegraph reported this past Monday that Eric has committed to Columbia and will be signing with the Lions today. You can find Monday's article on Eric at the Star Telegraph Sports website. Eric received a 75 rating from ESPN which moves him slightly ahead of Xander Franz as our most highly rated incoming football player. Congratulations to Eric and Eric's family on his becoming a Columbia Lion.
