Two for Tuesday

Mickey Brewer is described as a "strong and smart player" (CREDIT: Scout.com)

A couple more names on the "possible" recruit list for today.

Leading off is Mickey Brewer who looks like a top-flight wide receiver.

And next is Neal From a tight end from New York City.

I certainly hope Mickey Brewer is one of the 27 football players who has commited thus far to the Lions. He's obviously a talented pass receiver with a very bright future.

Brewer likes the light blue and white, but at North Carolina, and strangely, Bob Shoop's brother, John, is the OC there and really wants Brewer. But maybe he's committed already, who knows?

Where did the info that we have 27 commits come from?

Jake, I am hitching onto this post to gripe about the miserable home cooking at Cornell last Saturday. We went to the line 5 or 6 times; Cornell went 24! We can beat Cornell, but not Cornell and the refs!

Believe me when I say that the "27 commit" number comes from a very reliable source of information about Columbia Football. I have no idea whether Brewer, has committed to Columbia or anywhere else, but if he wants to wear the light blue and white somewhere other than North Carolina, Columbia is the logical choice.

The problem is that we do not have a point guard as athletic as Cornell's Louis Dale, so we can't help, but foul him. On the other hand, our shooting guard, Mack Montgomery and our power forward, John Baumann, are more athletic than theit Cornell counterparts, so maybe things will even out this Saturday at home. It's a big game for Columbia and I hope we get a big, noisy crowd. Hopefully, Coach Jones has a couple of athletic point guards coming in next year to guard the likes of Dale and Gore. If not, we will be in deep trouble.
