ROSTER UPDATED!!!

New weights are posted!

There are some headlines:

-OL Jimmy Yukevich, who is vying for a starting slot on the line went from 275 lbs. to 297 lbs.

-DL Chris Groth makes a good case to be the "load in the middle," going from 291 lbs. to 319 lbs. That also earns him the title of heaviest Lion for 2011.

-OL Xander Frantz is up to 291 lbs. from 280 last year.

-RB Marcorus Garrett is up to 200 lbs. from 180 last year. That could make a big difference as he attempts to be more effective up the middle.

-LB Josh Martin is up to 242 lbs. from 230 last season.

-LB Ryan Murphy is up to 230 lbs. from just 205 last year.

-LB Zach Olinger up to 220 lbs. from just 200 in 2010.

-DL Ben Popeck up 15 lbs. to 260 lbs.

-FB Nico Papas up to 231 lbs. from 220 last year.

But we do appear to have lost promising sophomore Joe Raimondi, who switched from the DL to the OL in the spring.

I am excited and hope all the weight increases are due to lifting which means stronger.

We now have good size at the LB position. Mistretta is 233, Martin is 242, and every other likely two deep LB is at least 220. Also, Popeck at 260 and Childress at 275 have good size at DE. On the OL we should average over 290.

Great weight improvement across the board, but particularly at linebacker and tight end. I'm glad to see that the Most Improved Player on Offense last spring, tight end, Zack McKown, is up 18 pounds from last year. Also the two freshman tight ends, DeMuth and Coffinger, have very good size.

Jake, you should feel good about the weight gain on defense. Not that you were the catalyst, but someone on the coaching staff certainly must have agreed with you about the need to add some weight if we were going to "Stop the Run."
