Is Carter on the Way?

Ryan Carter

I still have no confirmation that Hoover HS standout QB Ryan Carter has made a committment to any school.

He's been recruited by Brown and Columbia in the Ivies, and a lot of other schools as well.

But two online recruiting sites report that Columbia has indeed made him an offer.

I'll keep looking for updates...

According to Voyforums, Penn, Harvard and Brown have outstanding incoming classes. Penn's information is based upon the Raj-like inside information imparted by the greatest homer/apologist of all time, Asia Sunset, and thus I would discount it if only for that reason. But what about Harvard and Brown? Do these three schools have better recruiters? Or is this the usual BS that we see every year? I do find the total lack of information from our AD frustrating.

Your anti-Penn bias is showing. You may not like him but Asia is one of the most informed contributors on the Voy forum. Go back and read his comments on the last two Penn classes and then take a look at how they have turned out and you may be surprised. There are people on that board who are homers but I'm from another school and I simply don't see him that way.

I think (I hope) that Anonymous was trying to be humorous about Asia Sunset, whose astuteness as well as generosity toward Columbians are well known.

If Columbia has offered and he would love to come, what's the hold up?

Maybe he hasn't made up his mind yet, Doc, or maybe he has. If he does become a Lion we'll have three very good QB prospects, perhaps the best frosh QB group in quite a while. Big question is still at RB, only one so far that I know of.

Maybe cold feet for leaving home to go so far? Maybe financial aid?

At this time of the year, most incoming student-athletes do not make public statements where they are going to college. However, as a Columbia Football Fan and Alum, I'm certainly hoping that Carter is coming our way as he appears to be an outstanding young man from one of the best high schools in the country.

As someone noted recently, we only have one incoming player on Jake's unofficial list(Alex Fischer, but he's a good one, and behind him, there are two other very good players (Malcolm Thaxton and Mike Skalitzky-- who appear to be slated to be defensive backs at Columbia, but played on both sides of the ball in high, and did quite well. At the very least, one or both of them is likely to be returning kicks for us this fall. And then, of course, there might even be another running back who has not yet been named publicly.
