No Soul in Philly
Jeff Adams '12 (CREDIT: Columbia Athletics)
I am sorry to report that M.A. Olawale '10 did not make the cut for the Arena Football League's Philadelphia Soul. I would have really loved to see what he could do in that fast-moving, high-scoring league. Hopefully, he will get a chance somewhere else.
I am also sorry I can't eat as much every day as Columbia's two-time, (and counting), 1st Team All Ivy LT Jeff Adams. The Columbia Spectator got the lowdown on Jeff's daily diet in an article Friday.
THANKS!!!

Ouch! Heartbreaker for mens BB. Down by 12 to Yale with 2 plus minutes left in regulation, they storm back but eventually lose in double OT!
Columbia Baseball knocked off Central Michigan by a 3-1 score in only their second game of the season at the Stetson Invitational Tournament in DeLand, Florida. Senior Geoff Whitaker picked brilliantly for seven innings and sophomore Stefan Olson came on in relief in the final two innings, striking out the side in the ninth. Another soph, Nick Ferraresi, blasted a home run for the Lions. Columbia now takes on the University of Illinois, who already lost yesterday to Central Michigan by a 9-6 score.
Columbia Basketball/Baseball has just received a commitment from an outstanding 6'10" 250 lb. center/pitcher from the San Diego area. Columbia Wrestling has recently received commitments from one of the best heavyweights in the State of California as well as the Pennsylvania State 215 pound champion. Columbia Wrestling also has two other standout big men coming in from Wisconsin and Virginia. Nice recruiting by the Lion coaches!
Last night Agho really lit it up. Lyles also looked great, as did Barbour. Coach Smith needs a big man or two.
Great win for Mens BB over Brown to have a winning record overall. Agho was unbelievable with 31 points and looked like an NBA prospect with fade aways and thee pointers.
Columbia Baseball defeated Illinois by a 9-3 score this morning in Florida to move to 2-1 on the season. More great pitching and hitting from the Lions.
Watch Meiko Lyles next season. He had a great all around game last night and is a potential all Ivy swing man/shooting guard.
I agree with whomever made the comment about Meiko Lyles. The freshman is a very good all-around basketball player who improved dramatically during the second half of the season. Incidentally, if you look closely at Lyles' game, you will see some similarities to another outstanding Columbia basketball player, namely, Noruwa Agho.
Lyles is ahead of where Agho was as a first year. And let's not forget that Lyles was injured and missed a good part of the early part of the season. He has an excellent all around game and great court awareness. Next year look for Agho to be POY and for Lyles to make all Ivy. We'll play a three guard set with Barbour, who has a nice offensive game and plays with huge cojones. Barbour must get stronger. The front court will be our issue. Our guys just couldn't finish. Cisco and Daniels just have to step up, and Feldmann has to get a lot stronger.
More basketball and baseball especially this time of the year. I love it.
And how about that..Lyles was just named Ivy league Rookie of the Week today
Did our new DC leave already?
I notice that he is not listed on the coaches page and the news release cannot be found.
