Fordham Notes Online

Fordham has published its game notes and two-deep for the Rams season opener at Rhode Island this Saturday.

As you can see, Fordham's starting lineup is a veteran group, with the exception of a somewhat surprising number of sophomores on both the offensive and defensive lines. We'll have to see if the Rams look out of sync in any way against URI.

Speaking of game notes, I found this great little tidbit about Columbia's football past in the game notes for Central Michigan State, (the CMU Chippewas take on Arizona this Saturday, by the way).

• Each of CMU’s final 11 games last season was decided by 10 points or less, including six that were decided by three points or less.
• The 2008 Chippewas were one of just 10 teams in history to play at least six games decided by three points or less; CMU was 5-1 in those games. Bowling Green (1980) and Columbia (1971) share the NCAA record of seven games decided by three points or less in a single season. The 1991 Chippewas, who matched an NCAA record with four ties (6-1-4 overall), also had six games decided by three points or less.

Just in case you were wondering, here are the game results from Columbia's magical 1971 season:

Lafayette 3 Columbia 0

Columbia 22 Princeton 20

Harvard 21 Columbia 19

Columbia 15 Yale 14

Columbia 17 Rutgers 16

Cornell 24 Columbia 21

Columbia 31 Dartmouth 29

Columbia 17 Pennsylvania 3

Columbia 24 Brown 6

Thanks!

I just checked the number of visits to this blog compared to August of last year and we are up by a nice 20.6%!!! If I were a corporation, those would be great growth numbers! I hope to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing that is bringing so many of you to this site.
