Siedlecki Out

Jack Siedlecki has left the building

I have confirmed from two separate Yale sources that Head Coach Jack Siedlecki has resigned. There have only been two Yale head football coaches in my lifetime, so this is a big deal. Siedlecki has been the Eli head coach since 1997.

For the many readers of this blog who have longed for some kind of on-the-field revenage against Mr. Siedlecki, this would be the time to let go I guess.

Let the search for a new coach in New Haven begin.

Farewell, Jack.

You're wrong that Yale traditionally hires from its assistants. Since WWII, The only one who moved up was Carmen Cozza, who replaced John Pont in 1965, who took the Indiana job. Herman Hickman in 1948 (who like Siedlecki was cut loose), Jordan Olivar in 1952, Pont in 1963, and Siedlecki in 1997 came from outside.

True; heard it from a former starting RB at Yale.

This is the second Happiest moment of my Yale playing career, (first is beating Harvard before that streak of five losses.

My understanding is that upon hearing the news, RB Mike McLeod "flipped out" :).

Still consider that classless act on Jack's part (timeout) and McLeod's flip into the endzone in 2006.

I am fully on board with my fellow bloggers who remember Jack's classless "in your face" TD with seconds left in the'06 game, along with his smirk over McLeod's bush league flip into the end zone. Jack was a major league jerk.

Jake, great choice of a picture of a smirking Jack with a guffawing Yalie.

Why do folks forget that Jack did not just take a timeout in the final minute against Columbia but two (2) timeouts in about 48 seconds.

Jack was a total creep. He thought that McLeod's flip into the end zone was amusing. I do remember his two time-outs and his lame excuse -- that he wanted to give a senior a chance to score. He can't be fired enough. He still infuriates me.

He recruited me when he was an assistant at either Lafayette or Colgate (can't recall anymore).

Anyway, never felt the guy was genuine and I remember that smirk he had, too.

The guy loved himself
