Dinner With the Stars!

... okay not the stars, but the coaches. I'm looking to seeing as many of you as possible at the first-ever "Dinner with the Coaches" exclusively for season-ticket holders this Monday night, August 18th at the Chrystie Field House Lounge at Baker Field. Cocktails begin at 6:00pm with the dinner at 7. Coach Wilson will deliver his season preview following dinner.

Your time is running out to get season tickets and the dinner invite, but you can still do it by calling the ticket office at 1-888-Lions-11. And if you want more information you can contact Associate Athletics Director for Sports Marketing Barry Neuberger at 212 854-7031. But be gentle with Barry right now; he is a Yankees fan.

It's great that so many fans will get a chance to hear Coach Wilson speak about the upcoming season. This is a luxury that most teams only give to big donors. I remember the days when the only things you heard from the coach came from a few paragraphs in the media guide titled, "Columbia Football as I see it," under Head Coach Bill Campbell and then Bob Naso's byline.

Again, look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.

Norries already delivered a pre-season preview, last night (of sorts) before the Columbia Club of North Jersey. He was charming, but the only promise he really made was basically that his charges would always be "competitive" this season.

Still, there's a warmth to the guy that I never saw in Bob Shoop, he conveys that he cares personally about his players. He seems like someone it'd be very good to play for, and I hope he's around long enough to really build and develop his own particular program. Whatever this year's won-loss record finally is.
