The JV team won 21-20 over Princeton(who had already defeated another JV team previously. Special teams and the defense looked great...it was alot of fun for the kids and parents.

How about some details from those who were there? Did one or both frosh QBs play? Either of them have arm strength? Did Ivory play? It's unusual for someone to have three ints. Is Mehrer THAT good?

More info on the JV game. In summary, our defense and special teams got A's, but their QB was superior to anything we had and exciting to watch. Both our frosh QB's played, and the boy from Canada was mobile and had some vision, but needs some arm strength. Our QB's being mobile made all the difference on offense, as they were often flushed out of the pocket and made things happen, but unfortunately the Princeton starting QB (a sophomore lefty) was better in all facets to all of ours (he was fast, great arm, vision, etc...if he had played the entire game they would have scored twice as many points). Ivory hits the hole hard, keeps his legs moving and falls forward...he had some nice runs as did the other backs. Mehrer is good, but 2 of the 3 passes were poor and he didnt have to make much effor to catch them. Fontella at spur is tough and breaks well to the ball, but a bit undersized. Regarding our special teams, both kicking and punting were exceptional- strong and accurate, for freshman, allowing better downfield coverage than we saw at the varsity level. Unfortunately we didnt see our return team because Princeton didnt have a P/K, so they gave them 35 yds credit for a punt, and they had to go for 2 on touchdowns.

Havas played very well. He was good in the pocket when the two deep O-line was protecting him and made plays out of nothing when the three deep wasn't protecting him at all. He had a defender bearing down on him from the get go on almost every play in the second half and he just scrambled and made things happen that shouldn't have. The other freshman QB played well but all his reps were behind the porous line at the end of the game. He didn't really get any reps with good protection. I was not all that impressed with MA. All in all Havas stood out among the QBs. Kelly played in the Penn game so he didn't participate in the JV game. The three deep O-tackles have a long was to go. The two deep o-line has promise and all the guards looked good.
