That Was Fast!

More football is always better

Just as we get confirmation of the Junior Varsity season, the GoColumbialions.com website posts the schedule:

Oct. 14 Princeton 1 p.m.

Oct. 26 Colgate 2 p.m.

Nov. 9 at Cornell 4 p.m.

Nov. 16 Brown 2 p.m.

Call me crazy, but it's nice to see we'll be playing real college squads exclusively instead of prep schools and junior colleges.

"I failed as an Ivy League coach partly because of (passion)," Shoop said. "I was more passionate than some of the student-athletes."

I can't believe he had the balls to say this to anyone let alone the press. this complete joke of a coach and waste of space in general should be ashamed, complete embarrasment to the ivy league....good luck W&M

columbia fans are the real embarassment to the ivy league. it's hilarious reading this column at times, i.e. picking columbia over harvard and being negative towards other schools but never towards columbia. i respect jake a lot but the columbia mentality is simply absurd.

How is it absurd to be biased towards one's school, alma mater, team etc?

Well C U fans and alumni, we've just been called an embarrassment to the Ivy League and simply absurd for having some pma re: the Lions! Maybe part of that is deserved because we don't show up to support our athletic teams,we put up with admin and student apathy and maybe we need to speak up more with our checkbooks. Whatever the reasons that would let even one detractor make such asinine remarks (short of said author being Bob Shoop himself)lets do everything we can this year to put C U athletics at the top of the heap so the rest of them can see what absurd people can do when they try!!!

Columbia fans are NEVER an embarassment to the Ivy League. (The band, maybe, along with Princeton's own band yobbos, but not the fans.)

So why is it absurd to have a website specifically devoted to the glories of Lions football, past, present and likely future? And if it is so "absurd" for fans of other schools, why is at least one bothering to read it? And post here?

Really, I've sat on the home side a few times at Wien in front of or behind drunken, foul-mouthed and insulting middle-aged Yalies and Harvard "men," and the "worst" Columbia fan bears not even a slight resemblance to those well-walleted louts. None of which, I've ever assumed, however, reflected upon the true Yale or Harvard fan mentality.

Hey buddy, here's an idea. go to another website, this is for CU fans. You are embarrassing yourself by wasting your time and breath here.

whoever is the creep who is dissing us, here is a message: GET OUT OF OUR SPACE! WE LOVE OUR LIONS; IF YOU WANT TO DISS US, DO SO ON YOUR OWN BOARD. AS FAR AS WE ARE CONCERNED WE HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL, A GREAT COACH AND STAFF AND A GREAT BUNCH OF YOUNG MEN PLAYING FOR US. GO LIONS!!! As far as Mr. Shoop, he should stop running his mouth and get on with his life.

True Columbia fans are the best fans in the Ivy to stick with this team through the leanest of times. Perhaps the gutless anon. poster is just worried that things could be turning around here.
