Last Dance

It's an absolutely gorgeous day in the New York area for Columbia's final football game of the 2009 season.

The Lions have a shot at finishing in the upper half of the Ivy standings for the first time in 13 years and of course, this is the final contest for 26 of the best seniors this program has ever seen.

Please come out and enjoy the game. If not, sign up for the SideLion Pass and listen to Jerry Recco and me call the game.

Greatest Columbia win in years; best all around effort I've ever seen from a Columbia team. Fantastic win.

I wish I had gone to the game, but too far from Boston. I hope I can see the game online later!

This Sean Brackett appears to be a real player. Hopefully the O-line next year can be replaced to keep opening holes.

I am very excited about Columbia's next couple of seasons!

Go Lions!

I went to the Brown game last year in Providence and saw them pound us, so this was a very good Bears team we faced this year. Looks like we out rushed all the other teams they faced this year, which is amazing for Columbia. The guys must have been pumped up.

A wonderful, emotional win, and a perfect way to send those 26 seniors off and out.

We dominated on both sides of the ball. The playcalling, which has seemed iffy at times this season, was superb. And Sean Brackett rushed beautifully, both by design and, just a few times, out of necessity.

One typical "only for Columbia"-type moment: that excessive celebration penalty after the first half's interception return with time expired on the clock for a TD, which was assessed on the 2nd half kickoff. Not as bad as the two penalties for sideline remarks during the Harvard game, but still not something you ever see most other teams hit with.

Still, it was, as someone else has already noted, a fantastic win.

Spectacular 85 yard interception/latetral/TD return by the Columbia Lions at the end of the first half! As someone else already said, it was "A Play for the Ages."

A Very Happy Lion Football Fan

This Old Lion has seen hundreds of football games and this was one of the best. Congratulations to the Lion Players, their parents, their coaches and everyone else involved with the Columbia Football Program.

Jake, is there a way to see that amazing Mehrer/Shalbrack play on line?

The penalty at the end of the first half's TD interception return was on the Brown bench for sideline interference. It was assessed on the second half opening kickoff -- in our favor. Farham, however, returned the ball to the Brown 45.

What a spectacular game. Long sustained drives, powerful running, goal line stands, pick six INT, few mistakes.....the team that played today could have beaten Penn, Lafayette, Yale and Dartmouth. Harvard was pretty tough and who cares about CCSU. This team could have been 8-2.

I cannot wait until next year. The D will be healthy and strong and the O needs to fill grads on the line but should be flashy.

GO LIONS!

This team would have beaten Harvard today. We gift wrapped two early touchdowns to Harvard. Today we controlled both lines of scrimmage and turned Brown's Howard and Develin into ordinary players. I zeroed in on Jeff Adams; he was just awesome all day.
