Gameday!

It's a cloudy, but freakishly warm day here in New York as the Lions get set to take on the Yale Bulldogs at 1pm today.

For you history buffs, remember that this is the latest edition in the Ivies oldest rivalry. Columbia first played Yale in 1872.

Catch the game on the YES Network, (and maybe hear our audio on SideLion Pass as you turn down the TV?).

Heartbreaker-noun.-(1)Something or someone who causes extreme anguish and/or disappointment.(2)The final minutes of the 10/31 Columbia-Yale football game.
I don't know about you but I feel this was about as bad a loss as we could suffer. Hurts more because we outplayed Yale for large stretches,
had a dominating pass rush, played a rookie QB and RB who were brilliant, and still managed to make the most incredible mistakes at the most inopportune times. There must have been half a dozen things that went Yale's way: e.g. One more step and Ivery is in the end zone, Bracket puts two hands in the ball during his scramble near midfield, the refs dont flag us on 4th down to extend the game etc etc.
I have to go now, my psychotherapy session is starting.....

Any discounts for group therapy?
I'm still stunned.
Undecided whether we're just permanently jinxed or whether we're on the cusp.
On the rational side, we're playing without our best DL, LB, 2 CBs and RB. That's a lot.
For a change, the play calling was quite good. Bracket does ball fakes very well.
I want to believe. Am I nuts?

This time we can't blame the coaches, they did a good job, especially considering all the lineup changes. Rather, it was the football gods once again frowning on Columbia. The Brackett kid could help change all that in the years ahead.

Except for the two fumbles, the Columbia offense played very well in the second half so despite the tough loss I see a bright light ahead of the tunnel. Brackett was outstanding in his first varsity game, Ivery broke loose for a 70 yard + run and the offensive line opened some big holes against a strong Yale defense.
