Day 49: "Boccafola Field Goal-A!"

Farmingdale High School

Tom Boccafola '92 came to Columbia in 1988 after an impressive kicking career at Farmingdale High School on Long Island. He had the tough assignment of having to replace Matt Pollard '90, and did more than many could have hoped for.

That's because his freshman football season was a bit shaky, going 0-4 on field goals and 10-12 on PAT's for that 4-2 team.

He spent his sophomore year as an understudy to Pollard, but as a junior he went 7-7 on PAT's and 10-13 on field goals to earn Honorable Mention All Ivy honors.

Boccafola did even better as a senior, getting on the All Ivy First Team and leading the Lions in scoring.

But what I will remember most about him is the great cheer the marching band created for him:

Boccafola! Field Goala!
Make. That. Kick! Fight!

Good times.
