Sunny Day

Jordan was a natural!

Game of the Day (Day 15)

November 11, 2006

Columbia 21 Cornell 14

An unusually warm November day was the setting for the resurgence of a Lion team that was dragging after starting 3-1 after four games.

Here's how I broke the game down two years ago.

In hindsight, the game is still as meaningful as it seemed back in 2006. The defense really was in control, even against the run. Games like that are what the current Lions need to look at to realize that they can get the job done and create victories by winning the battles in the trenches.

Two players who made a huge difference in the game, Adam Brekke and Tad Crawford, graduated after the season and were never adequately replaced in 2007.

Most importantly, my then-three year old daughter Jordan made her cheerleading debut in that game... surely the real reason why Columbia won.
